During my pregnancy I became more aware about probably everything. Especially being healthy and all the unnatural stuff my body was exposed to made me think. But having a fulltime job and grow my own food seemed impossible to me. Ecodaddy gave me the book ‘The Complete Organic Pregnancy’.
The book title suggests changing my daily lifestyle. And to be honest I expected the book to be boring with lots of ‘you must’ which I can’t fulfill anyway. But I was wrong! The book is easy to read. Deirdre Dolan and Alexandra Zissu asked colleagues and friends to write about their personal experiences. So all of a sudden I realised I would face the same problems as they did and maybe their solutions would work for me too.
Subjects
Everything related to an organic lifestyle is in the book. With a ‘ better safe than sorry’ philosophy the authors discuss the use of plastic waterbottles, cleaning materials, hair dye, cosmetics, food and even the possible dangers of going to the swimming pool. r
Because the authors are journalists you’ll find lots of background information on every subject. But the book is especially easy to read because several other people contributed to the book by writing about their own experiences. These informal pieces and more serious parts of the book contribute to the diversity and that makes it easy to pay attention over and over again. they give you the feeling that it’s also possible for you to live green. Besides the parts about yoga, washable diapers and milking at work are hilarous. The most important insight is that it’s never like you expect it to be. But it’s sure worth trying!
Who should read this?
You don’t have to be pregnant to benefit from the information in this book. If you’re interested in an organic lifestyle it’s an interesting book to read. But if you consider to become pregnant read this first! The provided information is especially helpfull if you want to create an organic lifestyle and then become pregnant. Because this book will make you realise how much poison is part of your daily life by living as a consumer in a fastfood world.
