Babybeehinds: washable diaper review

Finally! I can start testing washable diapers! My newborn weighs almost nine pounds and knows how to fill a diaper. So I start testing with the Babybeehinds diapers. I’ll use the diaper at least three times and write about my experiences.

I already tried another brand but that diaper was really huge. Therefore it was put back in the closet straight away.

Babybeehinds Minkee Magic alls; all in one nappies

Brand: Babybeehinds Magic-Alls Minkee All-In-One Nappy
Size: small
Colour; deep blue
First I would like to compliment Babybeehinds on their website. The site contains lots of information for the ’starting washable diaper mums’.

First impression Feel it! The fabric is really soft. I love the happy colours and this deep blue version looks magnificent on my sons buttocks. I see lots of push buttons so I expect a perfect fit.
Change the diaper Quick and simple. The bamboo insert is the only seperate part of the diaper.
Price One all-in-one diaper costs €16,50. The shipping costs across Europe are € 3,50, The nappy covers costs € 8,50.
Fit Yes, the disposable diapers are smaller but the Babybeehinds are really not too big. The sizing is generous. The cloth diaper fits well around his legs.
Absorbency The insert is thin. My first thought was that it would be wet and messy but the insert really absorbs a lot. The fabric even feels dry. If you really have a big wetter you can use multiple inserts. And very important: what happened in the diaper stayed in the diaper!
Fabric Minkee outer (soft, velvety fabric), suedecloth inner (soft, and ’stay-dry’ to draw wetness away from baby’s skin) with sewn-in absorbent core made from 4 layers of microfibre. Made from 100% polyester (free insert made from 60% bamboo, 30% organic cotton, 10% polyester). So that could be more ecological. Babybeehinds also sells hemp fitted cloth diapers. The colours are not as bright as the all-in-one nappy but they are made of 55% hemp and 45% organic cotton.

Conclusion

I am happy! First of all that this first time cloth diaper experience was not a really big turn off. Ofcourse cloth diapers also have cons: it means more laundry (but less waste) and the baby has bigger buttocks.
Because of the resin snap closure the sizing is generous and happiness comes with the bright colours. After washing the diaper still feels soft and looks good. I expect this diaper to have a long life.
